|||||||
Kentmere Hydro Trust Kentmere Hydro Trust has been formed for the purpose of establishing a hydro electricity generating scheme on the upper reaches of the River Kent in the valley of Kentmere, situated in the south-east of the Lake District National Park.
Kentmere Hydro CIC Kentmere Hydro CIC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Trust will own and manage the scheme. Income from the scheme will be used to service the construction funding required for the hydro facility. Surplus funds will be donated to the Trust for use in fulfilling its charitable aims and objectives. Our vision It is said there used to be sixty mills utilising the power of the river Kent over its twenty mile course, and that there were many hundreds in Cumbria. Our project aims to inspire communities to re-kindle such productivity for the benefit to increase the supply of renewable energy, whilst providing the opportunity to support a variety of charitable objectives: Community self-reliance Community cohesion and social responsibility Long term renewable, sustainable, non-carbon-based energy generation Preservation of the environment around such schemes |
